The Freshkills Park Alliance works in partnership with the City of New York to transform the former Fresh Kills Landfill into Freshkills Park, which will be the largest public park built in New York City in more than a century. The nonprofit serves as the park’s primary advocate, championing its completion, and increasing public access and engagement alongside government, civic and community stakeholders. With a focus on sustainability and environmental reclamation, the Alliance continuously works to make the park a destination for all.
The Van Cortlandt Park Alliance preserves, supports, and promotes the recreational, ecological, and historical value of Van Cortlandt Park.
Van Cortlandt Park, in the northwest Bronx, is a natural showcase featuring the last vestiges of New York City’s native woodlands and wetlands. Founded in 1888, its 1,146 acres abound with sites that are important to the region and nation.
The New York City Mountain Bike Association (NYCMTB) builds and maintains trails in the five boroughs of New York City, advocates locally and regionally for the sport of mountain biking, and fosters a community of mountain bikers in NYC. NYCMTB is a nonprofit, and a chapter of IMBA and USA Cycling.
In addition to building and maintaining trails, NYCMTB is committed to promoting Mountain Bike culture through events, programming and races. Our goal is to celebrate the ride with everyone. From youthful beginners to expert level riders, we are out in the forest riding bikes and building trails within and outside of the city.
Our mission is to find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. JAR of Hope was born because no child should have to suffer like this. Or die like this. And because no family should have to suffer like this. Our goal, at JAR of Hope, is to make sure that people do hear these three words. And to research a cure so these children do get the chance to become adults.
