King of the Mountain Events’ vision is to create class-leading philanthropic endurance events.
King of the Mountain Events’ mission is to carve out a niche in the fitness market that provides runners and bikers with exciting, safe and memorable experiences coupled with socially conscious support for park stewardship.
Every runner and biker is a king of their own mountain. Their biggest competitor is within. They don’t follow the crowd, they lead into the breach. Facing their fears, tackling their own obstacles, scaling their own mountain to accomplish a goal bigger than themselves.
With over 60 years combined in the tri-state area running and biking market, we’ve been crushing it since 2001. We’re race course designers, non-profit leaders, middle of the pack runners, crazy bikers, trail maintainers, parents, always philanthropic at heart.
The roots of King of the Mountain are different too.
•Before there was Spartan or Rugged events, there was 10K+ a partner race filled with challenging physical and mental obstacles designed to make your sweat, get muddy, and want more. And it was all done in honor of deceased NYPD Officer John Kelly.
•We don’t just host your typical 5K runs. We host events designed to challenge you, make your rethink why you’re doing it, and then cross the finish line in triumph, asking when the next King of the Mountain race will be.
•Our races are for bigger causes… to promote, protect and defend our precious park spaces.
We are all kings of the mountain. The peak is calling you.
We decided that if we’re bringing back King of the Mountain Events, we’re going to do it right. Every event we host is partnered with a park-related non-profit and a majority of the net proceeds goes to that partner to help them maintain and program their park.
Groups like FreshKills Park Alliance, Van Cortlandt Park Alliance, and NYC Mountain Bike Association, are just some of many partners we’re working with in 2023.
Why would we give a majority of our profits away? Why wouldn’t we want to help them! Without their work, we wouldn’t be able to run, bike, and enjoy these precious open spaces. We strongly believe you leave the park better than you found it, and by bringing runners and bikers to new and unfamiliar venues, we’re creating the next generation of park stewards.
Join us as we have fun, get muddy, and make the world a better place, one muddy step at a time.
